A DAY IN THE SMOKE
- a scene from the film
At the far end of a dark Cairo alley sits a café that never closes – and never sleeps. Elaborate old murals cover it's nicotine-stained walls. Shisha pipes lurk on the saw-dusted floor.
Its time has slowed to a smoky haze. Sweet tea and stale blue smoke accompany the men's tales of broken dreams, stolen kisses, sensual women, lost fortunes and the eternal hope for a greener patch of grass on the other side of the fence.
A colourful display of contemporary Egyptian diversity just before the revolution and the generic Talk of Men.
